Job Description
Your mission is to bridge the gap between thin film lithium niobate (TFLN) photonic chip technology and the future of 6G. You will fabricate our cutting-edge TFLN chips that power next-generation wireless communication modules, driving innovation in high-performance photonics.
Objectives
- Process Development: Work together with manufacturing and cross-functional teams (Design, Test) to fabricate designed chips, develop/optimize nanofabrication processes (lithography, etching, metallization) for TFLN PICs, and support new product/process transfer and qualification. Implement protocols via design of experiments (DOE) to scale R&D to high-yield production.
- Process control & improvement: Analyze performance data (SEM/AFM/profilometer/etc.) with statistical process control (SPC) to spot trends, troubleshoot issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and deploy corrective actions. Enhance quality and repeatability through refined SOPs, documentation, and defect solutions.
- Turnaround and risk management: Streamline workflows to cut cycle times, minimizing downtime via Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), contamination controls, and proactive risk management.
- Customer engagement: Supporting customer relations, demos and visits; and composing technical documentation
Requirements
Essentials
- Master's or PhD degree in photonics, applied physics, electrical engineering, or related fields
- 2-4+ years in integrated photonics, semiconductor or microelectronics manufacturing, focused on hands-on fabrication
- Deep expertise in nanofabrication (lithography, etching, metallization, wet chemical processes) and associated tools
- Strong characterization skills (SEM, AFM, profilometer, etc.) using robust data analysis and interpretation
- Demonstrated track record developing and optimizing novel nanofabrication processes
- Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), and process optimization software
- Exceptional problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills suited to dynamic startup environments
Desirable skills
- Experience with TFLN photonics and high-speed modulator fabrication is a big plus
- Basic knowledge of integrated photonic device characterization
- Familiarity with photonic circuit layout software (e.g., KLayout, CleWin)
